ExpHand’s founder Kate Allan recently made an exciting trip to Cairo to attend the Africa Health Excon and showcase our prosthetics in Egypt. Here’s what Kate got up to…
Day 1
Kate’s first day in Egypt began by meeting Mohamad Sobhy from the UPA (United Procurement Authority). The UPA ensures the fair and necessary distribution of medicines and medical supplies within the medical framework of Egypt. They were joined by Ahmed Farouk from the British Embassy in Cairo who took us around the exhibitions and introduced us to many companies and hospitals.
Having previously spoken with Ahmed and Mohamad via video call, it was great to meet with them both in person. Of course, Kate took the opportunity to showcase the ExpHand, also sharing our manufacturing set up and offices back home in the UK.
Day 2
After lots of exciting discussion with the UPA, Kate was lucky enough to meet with Mohamad Sobhy again the following day. This was a fantastic opportunity to gain feedback on the ExpHand and how we might tailor them to the Egyptian market.
Kate was later able to explore the remaining exhibition stalls alongside Sharif Sabri from the British Embassy. It was great to discuss prosthetics in Egypt and be introduced to such a variety of companies, from large multinationals to local companies, hospitals and care facilities from across the regions.
Back in the UK
After an incredible trip to Cairo, Kate has made some exciting new developments on the ExpHand including new colour variations. ExpHand looks forward to continuing to work with them in the future, so if you’re ever in Egypt, keep an eye out and you might just spot an ExpHand.
We are so grateful for these amazing opportunities which enable Kate to help the ExpHand reach different corners of the world.
